My Dad

Thank you for all your thoughts and good wishes.

My Dad died peacefully this morning, so I'm flying over to be with my Mum for the next little while.

I think it was just his time. He'd been uncomfortable and in pain for a while now, though nothing specific had been diagnosed. Anyway now his spirit is free and on its next journey. I wish him well and hope he can see all the love and support that we are still sending him. The children have drawn some amazing pictures for Granny and Grandpa and want me to put them in his coffin to go with him to heaven.

  10. Kit...(I'm here from Mary Alice's blog) I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Traveling such a distance in a short time and dealing with all the emotional stuff that comes with a funeral is not easy. But...being surrounded by family and friends who love you help make it better. I know...my own father passed away in '05 and I had to travel from Japan to America...It was harder actually when I got back here. You have friends here in the blogging world who understand what you are going through. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

  14. Kit - I came to you via Mary Alice. I live in Cornwall but it wasn't always thus. Three years ago we lived in Pennsylvania as my husband in in the Royal Navy and we went aborad for a big adventure, sadly whilst there my beloved mother died three years ago tomorrow. That journey home was the worst imaginable, trying so hard to hold it together and look after three grieiving children and a new born baby. I thought I'd go mental!
I jusy thought it would ne a comfort to let you know that I, a strnager am thinking of you and 'getting it'. Condolences to you and your mother.

  18. Thank you everyone for sending so much support and sympathy our way. We're all completely overwhelmed by the response both from blog friends and real life friends who knew him. There has been an outpouring of love from all around us. My mother says to say she is really touched too.

We've all arrived safely - my brother from Australia too and it's great to be together - I think my father is enjoying it too from his viewpoint.

The strangest thing is that you are so busy with nitty gritty details and lists and paperwork, that that keeps you on a roll - I guess sadness comes later but for now I feel happy for him that the pain and discomfort of ill health is over and he can be himself again.
