Strawberry 'stravaganza

Sorry I haven't been around for a while ...I've been unavoidable detained in our strawberry patch. Strawberry season has arrived with a fanfare!

Youngest asked for a strawberry cake for her birthday and a fairy treasure hunt.

Strawberries inspired me to bake my first pavlova of the season.

and there were no leftovers!

  1. Mmmm...mouthwatering. Strawberries are my favorite. Is the cake like a shortbread or "shortcake"? We layer these golden cakes with whipped cream and strawberries and call them shortcakes. Pavlova sounds nicer...I can see why it was consumed quickly!

  3. We are still out of season, but we get them from Queensland. These have a sweet and concentrated flavor. The strawberry cake looks divine - very inspiring.

  10. OMG look at the size of that pavlova!! I stand in awe. The only strawberries we have in the stores now are the nasty, unseasonal variety that always look tempting but you KNOW they will be disappointingly tasteless :( Ah well, there's always Jerusalem artichoke soup to look forward to :)
